The best subject

My favorite subject in my first year at university is “Historia social de Chile” dictated by the teacher Daniel Fauré with Nicky Cerón that is assitant. I have this class every Wednesday at 10:15 in the morning.

In this class the teacher focus content in the Chilean society, our development as a historical subject and the struggles. The classes have been oriented to understand the creation of the historical subject from the constitution of different key characters, for example: the peasant or the pawn.

I like this class because I think it is important to know about the past that we have as a lower class, it is the different struggles of the peasant to recognize himself as a political and historical subject that constitute the working class up to the present. Besides, I like how the teacher gives his classes, since he not only teaches what has been imposed on us since school, but also shows us new horizons of knowledge

After each class, I’m left wondering how can I continue with the legacy of my past? I hope some day to have the strength and knowledge to face those who dominate us

an expert in your field that you admire

Michel Foucault was a historian, philosopher, psychologist, social theorist and professor. Born in France and recognized throughout the world for his influence on the conflicts of society. His approach allows a critique of modernity, based on Nietzsche and Kant.

It is for the social sciences and humanism a fundamental author to understand conflicts about power, government, governmentality, biopolitics, security, population, among others.

His books are the records of these studies, because they are based on the different speeches that Foucault made in his chairs. Among his most famous works stands out: "watch and punish" "history of madness in the classical era" "words and things"

I like this author because it expresses new ways of understanding society and demonstrates the power that the government exercises over us every day, giving us the possibility to question this situation and open up new possibilities.

In addition, in the university they have taught us about their thinking and their ideology, which has made it more interesting. I invite you to meet Foucault!
